southern same-sex wedding in louisiana / new orleans lgbtq wedding photographer
It’s always so much fun to photograph the weddings of couples I went to high school with, and Ellen & Ann’s same-sex Louisiana wedding definitely felt more like a big, southern party with old friends than a formal event. My associate and I made the drive to Natchitoches, LA (and yes, we spent most of the drive trying to figure out how to pronounce Natchitoches lol) where Ellen & Ann welcomed us with true southern hospitality into their beautiful historic home – right down the street from *the* Steel Magnolias home – where we got to hang out, have a few beers, and unwind before the big day. Having lived in Mississippi as a kid, being back in the thick of that humidity and surrounded by the sound of katydids was so incredibly comforting. And if I’m being totally honest, we definitely got lost on a muddy, dirt road trying to find the venue and we *may* have been personally responsible for delaying the wedding by a few minutes – but luckily Ellen & Ann took it all in stride, with the entire bridal party cheering us on in the parking lot when we finally made our arrival, haha! I will never forget this amazing experience.
