sam & joshmohonk preserve engagement
Sometimes you just click with people. After my first phone consult with Josh and Sam, I knew we were destined to make dope photos together. These two live in the city, but love being outdoors and hiking/adventuring is their jam. Sam had thrown out the idea of taking a hike for their engagement shoot, and having recently moved to up state NY from (flat) coastal MS, I was all for experiencing some sweet mountain action. She asked me about my hiking level, to which I (hilariously) responded, IDK MEDIUM? I’ll do whatever to get the best photos! Luckily I happened to mention this shoot to a friend, who rightfully freaked out after looking at the trail map online, realizing there was a rock scramble involved, and totally hooked me up with her hiking boots, headlamps, and an array of other hiking equipment I had no idea existed until then. When the day arrived, I packed my gear and snacks and embarked on my journey to Bonticou Crag. I remember having a mild panic attack in the car when I realized this was likely going to be a 4+ hour hike, and OMG WHAT IF I HAVE TO POOP ON THE MOUNTAIN. Yeah, wasn’t fearing for my life, just my bowels. I met Josh and Sam at the trailhead, and they’re basically models, NBD. We got maybe 10 minutes in before I broke out in a full sweat and couldn’t carry on a conversation because, yeah, turns out hiking IS REALLY FUCKING HARD haha. They were sooo nice and obliged my need to stop and rest several times. When we arrived at the rock scramble, I panicked internally, reminded myself that my gear is insured, and went for it. There was one tricky spot I definitely could not have conquered without Josh’s help carrying my gear, but YOU GUYS I DID IT! And wow. That view. Worth it 10000%. Fun mountain hijinks ensued, epic photos were taken, and I have been looking forward to sharing these since the very first frame. If this is how they do engagement sessions, I cannot WAIT to experience their wedding.
